Recently, there were revealed more details concerning the German national final in 2006 on the official German Eurovision Song Contest website eurovision.de. The host of the show was announced as well as a list of guests being part of the show.

The show will be hosted by popular comedian and moderator Thomas Hermanns, who might be one of the best-known Eurovision Song Contest fans in Germany. In 2005, he hosted the German countdown show before the transmission of the live event as well as the after party. Furthermore, he announced the German points in 2005.

Two more comedians have already confirmed to be guests: Hape Kerkeling, who hosted the German finals in 1989, 1990 and 1991 (together with Sylvia Wintergrün) and Dirk Bach. Moreover, the only German winner in the contest, Nicole, will be part of the show.

To celebrate 50 years of Eurovision Song Contest, the German broadcaster has invited quite a lot international stars: The Olsen Brothers (winners of 2000 for Denmark), Dana International (winner of 1998 for Israel), Brotherhood of Man (winners of 1976 for the United Kingdom), and the only singer who won the contest twice, Johnny Logan (1980 and 1987 for Ireland). During the national final, the most memorable moments of the “Grand Prix” history will be shown.

The three singers, Vicky Leandros, Thomas Anders and Oilli Dittrich will not only sing their entries but also a former Eurovision Song Contest entry to “give the audience a better impression of their skills”.

The German final will take place on 9th March 2006 in Hamburg. Despite a last place in 2005, Germany is already qualified for the final in Athens because they are a so-called “big-4” country.

Update: On Decmber 19th, the advance sale of the tickets for the German final has started. The show will take place in the 'Hamburger Schauspielhaus'. Tickets cost between 26 and 61 Euro. The ticket hotline: 01805-663 661 (0,12 Euro / minute from Germany).
