Broadcaster France 3 started its search for its 2006 Eurovision Song Contest participant. Interested singers can now send in a video tape or DVD with their performance to the French broadcaster. Pascal Sevran will host a casting show to find a new French talent, starting in January.

Television host Pascal Sevran, who is critical towards the usage of English at the Eurovision Song Contest, will present the televised casting show, according to magazine Télé Star. Since many years, Sevran hosts his own music show, particulary focussing on French music and singers. In the sixties and seventies, Sevran had success as song writer and composer. His biggest hit was Il venait d'avoir 18 ans, sung by Dalida.

In Kyiv, Ortal came 23rd with Chacun pense à soi in the final. Because France is a 'Big-4' country, France is already qualified for the final of the 51st Eurovision Song Contest, on 20th May in Athens, Greece.
