Loreen to inaugurate the 2013 events with a special ‘Euphoria’

The winner of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, Loreen, who brought the contest to Sweden for the fifth time, have been given the honour of being the first person live on stage in this year’s shows.

Loreen will be taking to the stage to start the first semi-final in Malmö Arena on 14 May.

She will be joined by a choir of children and a group of sign language interpreters,sixty-nine in total, who will together interpret a very special version of Euphoria together.

This will be an improved version of the one seen in the Swedish national final in March, which you can watch below:

The students from Östervångsskolan school in Lund will be doing the sign language this time, while the childrens’ choir is made up from pupils from the Djupadalsskolan and Bergaskolan schools in Malmö.

The kids from the 5th and 6th grades (around 10 to 12 years of age) will be singing in different harmonies.

Traditionally the previous year’s winner has opened the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest. This time the Swedish team has employed the best of Swedish talent to open the final.

A team consisting of Björn and Benny of ABBA will be joined by top producer Avicii on the stage. According to press reports also top international footballer Zlatan Ibrahimović, hailing from Malmö, will be joining in the opening act as well.
