According to the Norwegian newspaper VG, Norwegian broadcaster NRK will organise three semifinals in different cities, following the Swedish format of Melodifestivalen.
The final of Norway's Melodi Grand Prix was already scheduled for 4th of February in Oslo's Spektrum venue.
According to the newspaper, NRK invited 10 cities to submit their proposal, but when it comes to serious negotiations, the cities of Bodø, Trondheim and Bergen, where the 1986 Eurovision Song Contest took place, seem to be the most likely options. Each host city has to contribute 1,000,000 NOK.
Currently, NRK is dealing with the last stages of its internal selection of participants.
Update: Norwegian broadcaster NRK didn't want to react on the story. “We are trying to do something special with Melodi Grand Prix in 2006, but nothing has been decided yet”, was the official reaction.
