The 2006 Eurovision Song Contest will take place under the motto Feel the Rhythm! Host broadcaster ERT announced that moments ago during a press conference in the host city of the 51st contest, Athens (Greece).

Together with the slogan, the visual identity for the contest has been presented. As already known, the heart-shaped logo will be present carrying the Greek flag.

The Greek sub-logo is distinguished for its deep blue colour, inspired by the countrys clear blue waters and the waves that hit the Greek shores, and the Phaistos Disc, the first important example of hieroglyphic inscription discovered in Greece. “It is cheerful, playful and contemporary”, Greek television said.

The main theme of the logo is the colourful musical stave, which moves to the beat of the music, while the bright colours provide a tone of joy and optimism, which are the essence of Eurovision. The lines of the colourful stave whirl around, join and merge together, just like the nations and the various music styles have been merging in the contest for over 50 years. “So, as of today and until 20 May, Athens logo will become the new image of the Eurovision Song Contest, full of Greekness and music”, ERT's new Eurovision Song Contest website said.
