2005 Eurovision Song Contest winner Helena Paparizou has been invited by Swedish broadcaster SVT to host one of the semifinals of the national selection, Melodifestivalen 2006. Newspaper Aftonbladet wrote that. The proposal doesn't come as a surprise, as SVT is often eager to find 'big names' for the honourable job!
It's likely that Helena will host the fourth and last semifinal in Gothenburg, on 11th March (Scandinavium). However, she did not confirm her presence yet, as it's yet unknown if it fits in her busy schedule.
“I am honored and it would be great to host Melodifestivalen, and when it comes to that particular semifinal I am checking my calendar at the moment”, the Eurovision Song Contest winner said. If she will perform her winning song My number one is unknown as well.
As in previous years, the Swedish semifinals and final will be hosted by different couples. Alexandra Pascalidou, Greek broadcaster's former Eurovision Song Contest commentator, already hosted one of this year's semifinals.
