The song

This year’s Hungarian entry is a gentle song about a man who finds the right one. ByeAlex sings how happy he is as he is convinced that she is the one for him.

Az én kedvesem egy olyan lány, akit
farkasok neveltek és
táncolt egy délibábbal,
majd elillant csendesen
az én kedvesem.
Ő az én kedvesem.
Az én kedvesem egy olyan lány, akit
átölel hét kontinens,
csobban szép tengerekben
s táncot lejt fent felhõk közt
a kedvesem.
Ő az én kedvesem.

Mert nekem nincs most más,
csak a kedvesem, az én kedvesem.
Õ bárhol jár,
az úgy jó nekem,
az úgy jó nekem.
Mert mindig rám talál
az én kedvesem, az én kedvesem
Úgy dúdolná:
ez így jó nekem
ez így jó nekem
ez a dal.

The performer

Alex Márta better known as ByeAlex is a 29 year old guy from a small town called Fényeslitke in the Eastern part of Hungary. He works as a journalist: he is editor at Tattoo Magazine and holds a masters degree in Philosophy, which has always been an intriguing subject to him, next to this passion for music. When he finished high-school, he formed a band called Love Story Bar, which did not get too far though. His first success as musician came after his university graduation: his first single Csókolom! was regularly played by national music channels, followed by his next singles Láttamoztam and Messziről which was a joint composition with radio listeners.

The songwriters

The song is penned by Alex Márta, Zoltán Palásti Kovác. Alex who will also sing for Hungary, made his first attempts to write songs when he was a teenager. Zoltán Palásti Kovác is a re-owned Hungarian producer. He is known as Zoohacker and his discography is quite vast with Hungarian artists.

The national selection

ByeAlex won the Hungarian national final contested by another seven acts. The selection took place over four weekends with five shows in total.

Hungary in the Eurovision Song Contest

Having not qualified from the Eastern Europe semi-final in 1993, Hungary debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 and achieved its best result to date finishing fourth. The country did not return in 2000 after several bad results. In 2005 when the Eurovision Song Contest celebrated its 50th edition, Hungary came back. The following year it withdrew again but returned for the 2007, 2008 and 2009 contests. In 2010 they took another break from the contest but returned again in 2011 with Kati Wolf. Last year Compact Discos managed to get a place in the final but didn’t finish better than 24th.

Statistics

This will be Hungary’s twelfth participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. For the fourth time the country is represented by a male solo singer. The last time when Hungary presented a male solo singer was in 2009 when Zoli Ádok sang Dance with me. This year’s song is entirely performed in Hungarian.

Hungarian vote in Eurovision

Greece is the country that received most points from Hungary while Finland and Iceland gave the most points to Hungary. Infact the northern states gave 34 points to Hungary.

The betting odds

According to oddschecker.com, Hungary is currently standing at number 28 in the odds to win the Eurovision Song Contest and it doesn’t look favourable for the Magyars to qualify to the final as it is currently standing at number 15 to qualify from semi-final two.

Magyarországnak és ByeAlexnek sok szerencsét és jó malmői eredményt kívánunk!
