Spain: 3 vocalists to accompany ESDM on stage in Malmö

TVE, the Spanish national broadcaster has announced that 3 vocalists will accompany ESDM, the 2013 Spanish Eurovision representatives on stage in Malmö.

Mey Green, Milena Brody and Javi Méndez will be the 3 vocalists who will join ESDM on stage on 18 May at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest final. ESDM want to bring the true essence of their live shows to the Malmo stage, hence bringing the true nature and energy of a rock band.

The staging of the Spanish Eurovision entryin Malmo will be directed by Pedro Castro, who was the man behind the 2013 Spanish official Eurovison  videoclip of Contigo hasta el final.  ESDM have recorded an English version of their Eurovision entry, which is set to be released shortly.

Who are the 3  Spanish backing vocalists?

Mey Green will be back on stage for a 2nd consecutive year. She is no new face to the Eurovision stage as last year she enjoyed experiencing the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest where she was one of the vocalists for Pastora Soler in Baku. Mey was born in Madrid. Mey is a Eurovision fan and has tried to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest several times, having taken part in the Spanish Eurovision national selections.

Javi Mendez is a multi facetted and talented artist who has collaborated with ESDM many times. He hails from the Spanish city of Oviedo. He has taken part in more than 1800 concerts throughout the globe. He is a great musician and will sure add more essence to ESDM’s Eurovision performance.

Milena Brody is a young Ukrainian singer, violonist, and composer who moved to Spain 9 years ago. She is currently part of the Joven Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid.

Spain selected ESDM  to represent Spain at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest via an internal selection, whilst the 2013 Spanish entry Contigo hasta el final was selected during as special televised gala last week via a 50/50 public- televoting deliberation.

Spain is directly qualified to compete at the Eurovision Song Contest final as part of the BIG 5 countries (ItalyFrance,Germany, United Kingdom and Spain), hence ESDM will fly the Spanish flag on 18 May in Malmoe.

Spain debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 and has won the event twice in 1968 with Massiel and in 1969 with Salome. The Spaniards have been runner up in the contest a total of 4 times in 1971, 1973 1979 and in 1995.
