336 songs were submitted for the Danish national selection for the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, Melodi Grand Prix 2006. Broadcaster DR said that to esconnet.dk.

In 2004, the Danish public broadcaster received 315 songs, for the 2005 selection 263. The higher amount of songs shows a rising Danish interest in the Eurovision Song Contest, which is no surprise after Jakob Sveistrup's 10th place in Kyiv. The 125 points for Talking to you ensure Denmark a final ticket in Athens.

Among the potential participants are Tomas Thordarson (Denmark 2004, photo), Ivan Lind Greiner, Andreas Mørck and Gry Johannsen (Denmark 1983). DR will announce the 10 selected songs in December.

The Danish selection for Athens takes place on 11th February in Aalborg, where the Gigantium venue will turn into Denmark's one-night Eurovision Song Contest palace.
