Renowned Swedish producer Andreas Kleerup has been confirmed as part of the interval act for the first semi-final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

It has been revealed that the performance on 14 May will be inspired by the northern lights. Kleerup himself is reported to have written a song entitled Northern light for the performance and has been lined up to appear on stage himself, although it is not yet clear in what capacity.

Kleerup has collaborated with a number of well-known artists, both Swedish and international, including Robyn, Lykke Li, Neneh Cherry and Cyndi Lauper.

The Stockholm-based artist recently enlisted Loreent to provide the vocals for his single Requiem solution, which the pair performed at the Swedish Grammy Awards.

The producer of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, Christer Björkman said of the decision to enlist Kleerup for the semi-final; It’s his artistry we want. He has such a broad range of talents and is equally talented in pop as in classical. He creates exciting scenarios and that’s what we need to describe the phenomenon of the aurora.

The first semi-final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Malmö on Tuesday 14 May.
