The announcement of the Dutch national selection details for the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest has been postponed “four to six weeks”. Our colleagues of songfestival.web-log.nl learned that from NOS spokesperson Rolf de Wit.
The 2006 Nationaal Songfestival will take place on 12th March, 2006, hosted by Paul de Leeuw. Unlike previous years, no semifinals will take place. A venue for the Dutch selection for Athens has not yet been announced, but it will not take place at the Ahoy' stadium in Rotterdam, where the finals of 2000, 2001 and 2003 took place.
Earlier, Nationaal Songfestival Executive Producer Lucas Burgering said to esctoday.com that the national selection details were planned to be announced in early September. After disappointing results for the Dutch entries in the last six years, broadcaster NOS is eager to organize a “professional, fresh and great television show”.
