According to the Spanish TV magazine 'El Semanal TV', the talent show Gente de Primera might decide who will sing for Spain at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Athens.
This TV show is very popular in Spain as newcomers get the chance to sing a duet with established national and international performers.
The show is produced by Seville-based ZZJ S.A. which is behind the show that selects the Spanish entry to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
The news has not yet been confirmed by TVE, which has said they will be looking for a new show to select their entry. Last year, a more traditional national final had weak viewing figures and gave Spain one of their worst results in some years. However, as a Big 4 member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), their place remains guaranteed for the 2006 final of the Eurovision Song Contest.
