Eurovision Young Dancers: the Netherlands wins

While the Netherlands didn't manage to win the Eurovision Song Contest in the past 30 year, a different Eurovision victory is a fact now! Tonight, Dutch Milou Nuyens won the 11th Eurovision Young Dancers competition, which took place in Warsaw, Poland. Poland ended second, Belgium third.

Since the Eurovision Song Contest became a proven success format, the European Broadcasting Union organized more contests based on this format, like the Eurovision Young Dancers competition, the Eurovision Young Musicians competition and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. However, none of these events managed to come even close to the level of popularity the Eurovision Song Contest gained.

As the televoting era didn't affect the Young Dancers competition yet, the winner of this competition has traditionally been selected by a professional jury. With only 13 countries participating, the dancing competition reminds to the early editions of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Remarkable detail; the Eurovision Young Dancers competition has not been aired in the Netherlands. Dutch viewers who would like to see a 'Eurovision victory' can tune in this Sunday between 13:00 and 14:30 at Nederland 3 (NPS).
