After six shows, Hungary chose their entry for  Eurovision Song Contest 2013 – and it’s ByeAlex with his song Kedvesem.

Overall 244 songs were submitted to MTV, the Hungarian national broadcaster, and during the last weeks, Hungary first chose 18 songs out of 30. Then, last weekend, in two semi-finals, eight songs qualified for the final.

Tonight, the eight best songs fought for the winning spot. First, the jury members chose their favourites by awarding 4-6-8-10 points to their TOP4 songs. After shortlisting it to the four super-finalist, and the televoting lines were opened, and viewers around the world could choose their favourite.

The 8 songs competing were the following:

  • András Kállay-Saunders – My baby
  • Gergő Rácz –Csak állj mellém
  • Tamás VastagHolnaptól
  • Gigi Radics Úgy fáj
  • ByeAlexKedvesem (Zoohacker RMX)
  • Szilvi Agárdi – Dénes PálSzíveddel láss

The jury chose András Kállay-Saunders, Gigi Radics, Tamás Vastag, and ByeAlex to fight in the televoting – out of which the televoters chose ByeAlex. Overall, more than 244.000 votes were cast during the show.

Will the Hungarian entry bring the home the country’s first win ever, or set the country’s new best placing, which is a fourth place from its debut from 1994?

Hungary will complete in the second semi-final in Malmö, on 16 May.
