No contract renewal for Alexandra Pascalidou

Greek broadcaster ERT, host broadcaster of the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, did not renew the contract of Alexandra Pascalidou, who is widely tipped as host for next year's event. Pascalidou featured as host of the weekly show Euromania and replaced Daphne Bokota as ERT's Eurovision Song Contest commentator.

Pascalidou appeared on camera last night saying that ERT did not renew the contract they had since January of this year. However, she didn't say anything about possible future plans with the Greek broadcaster. Several websites claimed to know that Pascalidou is the most likely candidate to host the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, together with the French StarAcademy host Nikos Aliagas.

After Daphne Bokota, the Greek 'mother' of the Eurovision Song Contest, was fired by ERT earlier this year, Pascalidou was asked to replace her as the new face and voice of the contest in Greece. If Pascalidou can expect a new contract for next year's Eurovision Song Contest or the Greek national selection is unknown.
