Moldovan ethno-rock group Zdob si Zdub is very satisfied with the 6th position they reached at the 50th Eurovision Song Contest, the first one with Moldova. Thanks to Zdob si Zdub and their Grandma, Moldova is directly qualified for next year's Eurovision Song Contest final in Greece.

Zdob si Zdub received 148 points for their song Boonika bate toba. Support came from Romania and Ukraine, both awarded Moldova with 12 points, Russia, Lithuania and Portugal gave them 10 points each.

Valeriu Mazilu of Zdob si Zdub said this was a very good result for the Republic of Moldova, which made its first appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest. “Our performance has let the world hear about Moldova. We had prepared very well for the competition, and I guess we were to win a higher place than this. However, the contest is not least a political enterprise as well. Hence was the voting outcome,” the musician said.

Zdob si Zdub's 6th place offers Moldova the right to compete in next year's Eurovision Song Contest final, to be held in Greece.
