Eyþór Ingi Gunnlaugsson won the Icelandic national final for the Eurovision Song Contest and will represent the Northern European country in Malmö. Eyþór Ingi Gunnlaugsson will perform the song Ég á líf in the first half of the Semifinal 2.
Iceland decided to send Eyþór Ingi Gunnlaugsson to the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 after an exciting national final took place in Reykjavík. The viewers had their say in the super final which saw Eyþór Ingi Gunnlaugsson and Unnur Eggertsdóttir competing for the grand prix.
The winning song entitled Ég á Líf was written by Örlygur Smári and Pétur Örn Guðmundsson.
Iceland is yet to win the Eurovision Song Contest even if the country debuted in 1986. Their best result to date is the 2nd place secured by Selma in 1999 and by Yohanna in 2009.
