This year's Eurovision Song Contest is taking on the air of the Olympic Games. The city of Kyiv will host opening and closing ceremonies. The ceremonies will be held on 18th and 22nd May respectively, and all of this year's participants from 39 countries will be in attendance.

I do not remember situations when Eurovision Song Contest participants and finalists took part in such performances,” Oleksander Bystrushkin, Head of the Main Department of Culture and Historical Monuments Protection of the Kyiv City State Administration, pointed out.

Moreover, the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest will not only take place inside the Palats Sportu. The European Broadcasting Union agreed on the Ukrainian proposal to air eight minutes of the show live from the city center of Kyiv. Five minutes for broadcasting Khreschatyk parade and three minutes to air the celebrations from Maidan.

The eight minutes to be broadcast from outside the Palats Sportu should show Kyiv and the spirit of the event.
