Glam of Wig Wam talks to esctoday.com

Norwegian representatives Wig Wam have just come back from Romania where they performed at the MTV
Romanian Music Awards, did a gig and some TV-interviews. Together with last month's trip to Sweden, the promotion in Romania was Wig Wam's only campaign before leaving for Kyiv. However, Glam of Wig Wam would like to rectify a statement published by Swedish news paper Expressen we earlier reported about…

I have just read that I openly critised Martin Stenmarck's song and believe Wig Wam has better chances of getting the popular support,” says Glam. “This is not true at all. I did not criticise Stenmarck's song. I was asked if I liked the song, and I told the journalist that it wasn't my cup of tea. I thought, and still think the song would be a great song for musicals.

During the Wig Wam trip to Stockholm on their Rock Schläger Tour, Glam read an article in Expressen, criticising Martin Stenmarck for going to Las Vegas to shoot a new video and then doing a concert in London as a guest singer with Swedish entertainer Robert Wells. “Expressen thought this was a total waste of time and bad tactics for winning. They believed he should instead do a promotion campaign in Eastern Europe and the neighbour countries to secure some votes. When I spoke to Expressen, I simply agreed,” says Glam.

I have a strong belief in meeting people in the streets, shaking hands and make a spectacle where ever Wig Wam sets foot, Glam continues. “I thought this would be better tactics for gaining votes. Being quoted the way I have been in Expressen comes out the wrong way I think. Like I said in my interview, I hardly think about competition. I'm going to Kyiv to entertain, and our goal is to spread the word around that Wig Wam is ready to kick some serious ass where ever, whenever.

Wig Wam's biggest concern has been to rock their fans in their home country Norway where they have constantly been touring since 9th March. “So I guess, our tactics aren't actually the smartest one either in matter of getting votes from other countries. But let's face it! We're a live rock'n roll band that will live on even with zero points in the Eurovison Song Contest. We gain fans, not voters…. Rock on!

Wig Wam takes part for Norway in the semifinal of the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest with the song In my dreams.
