Verka Serduchka, the Ukrainian runner-up of the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, is making headlines again after purchasing one of Freddie Mercury’s luxury cars at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham. The self-proclaimed ‘Ukrainian Cinderella’ spent £74,600 on the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 74.

A mysterious Eastern European citizen bought Freddie Mercury’s luxury car more than six times its guide price earlier this month at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham. Andriy Danilko, the man behind the Verka Serduchka character, spent £74,600 on a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 74.

The self-proclaimed ‘Ukrainian Cinderella’ spoke about it at a special press-conference organized in Kyiv: I bought the car not to drive it, but to preserve it to fans of the Queen! According to Serduchka, the car will be donated to a special Queen museum to be opened soon in the United Kingdom.

Verka Serduchka represented Ukraine in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest and placed 2nd with 235 points. The song Dancing lasha tumbai faced harsh criticism for using a made-up phrase which to some sounded like Russia goodbye.

I'm working for Esctoday.com since 2006 and I'm very proud to be part of this wonderful team.
