Helena Patroklou, who was supposed to feature Constantinos Christoforou for Cyprus in Kiev, decided to resign from her noble task “due to personal reasons”. Broadcaster CyBC confirmed the resignation to esctoday.com.

Patroklou, who already represented Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1991, was asked to sing Ela, ela together with Constantinos. This weekend, record label Minos EMI and Patroklou agreed she will stay home.

The official reason for Patroklou's resignation is a “personal reason”, which can be anything. It is expected that Minos EMI will come up with a press release in the upcoming days.

Without Helena Patroklou, Constantinos Christoforou represents Cyprus in the final of this year's Eurovision Song Contest. It's unknown if Patroklou will be replaced and if so, who will get the job.
