157 songs received in Estonia for Eesti laul

The deadline for submitting songs for the 2013 edition of Eesti laul, the show selecting the Estonian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest, ran out today.

The Estonian public broadcaster ERR (Eesti Rahvusringhääling) reports that it received 157 entries before the deadline.

The selection jury will be working very fast, as the broadcaster promises to announce the names of the semi-finalists already on this Thursday. The semi-finalists will be revealed on the Estonian TV show Ringvaade at 18.00 CET (19.00 local time).

For the fifth year in a row there has been more than 100 songs submitted in Estonia, which according to the organisers tells about songwriters’ commitment to Eesti laul.

As usual, the biggest number of songs was submitted just before the deadline. Many known faces were spotted and photographed in the lobby of the Estonian broadcaster.

Eesti laul dates:

  • 20 semi-finalists will be announced on 14 December 2012
  • First semi-final: 16 February 2013
  • Second semi-final: 23 February 2013
  • Final: 2 March 2013 in the Nokia Concert Hall in Tallinn
