Maltese results to be revised?

New problems have occured in Malta. Last night, several cities in Malta suffered from an electricity breakdown. The problems turned out to have been solved right before Chiara performed as 17th of 22 participants. The Maltese authors composers and singers organisation UKAM has made an official complaint.

Only 566 votes separated Chiara from runner-up Olivia Lewis in the results of last night's Malta Song for Europe festival. However, ten thousands of Maltese viewers have not been able to see the first 16 performances, including the one of Olivia Lewis, due to an electricity breakdown. An official complaint was submitted to the Maltasong Board before the voting started yesterday. Today, UKAM will release an official statement.

The Malta Song for Europe festival also faced other difficulties last night when one of the three Maltese phone companies needed a lot more time to deliver the results and the show overran. When the final results had been counted, Chiara was announced as the winner. Olivia Lewis finished second and J. Anvil third.

Five of the last six acts, starting with Chiara, reached the top 10 and several songs that were expected to reach the top 10 failed to do so, which could be an indication for the problems mentioned above. Esctoday.com has contacted the Maltasong Board and we are currently awaiting their reaction.
