The Swedish Melodifestivalen season started tonight with the first semifinal, which took place in Göteborg. Shirley Clamp and Nordman have qualified for the final, while Alcazar and Linda Bengtzing proceed to the second chance round and still have the possibility to reach the final.

Televoting decided the outcome of tonight's event. In order to keep the excitement, the amount of votes has not been revealed (like in the Netherlands). The two songs listed here are therefore not presented in any special order. These are the songs we'll see again in the final of Melodifestivalen 2005

– Shirley Clamp – Att älska dig
– Nordman – Ödet var min väg

These two songs came third or fourth after the televoting:

– Linda Bengtzing –Alla flickor
– Alcazar – Alcastar

These entries have proceeded to the second chance round where they will be given a new chance to make it to the final. On 6th March they will compete again with the other 3rd and 4th placed participants.

Hosts tonight were Shan Atci and Alexandra Pascalidou, who is well-known in Greece and will also host the Greek song selection.

Ruslana was tonight's interval act, singing Wild dances again.

The next semifinal of Melodifestivalen 2005 takes place next Saturday, on 19th February, in Linköping. The final takes place on 12th March in Stockholm's Globen Arena.
