The countdown for the 2013 edition of the Norwegian Eurovision selection, Melodi Grand Prix, is on! The country’s public broadcaster NRK has today launched a call for songs for next year’s MGP. As already reported, the Norwegian selection series will commence on January 19th in Steinkjer. The final will take place in February.

As NRK explains, the rules remain the same as in previous years – anyone can submit entries, with the only requirement of being 16 or older by the time the semifinals of Eurovision 2013 take place, and the songs can’t be published or performed publicly before Melodi Grand Prix is underway. Submissions deadline has been set for September 1st.

More information and registration form can be found here.

However, there will be some changes in Norway’s Eurovision selection. Vivi Stenberg will be replacing Per Sundnes as musical director of Melodi Grand Prix. Per Sundnes left NRK and is currently working in commercial broadcaster TV3.
