Romania’s hopefuls, Mandinga, took part in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest and finished 12th with 71 points. Upon returning back home, the band sent a message to fans and everyone who supported them in their journey to Baku.

Elena (Mandinga lead singer)says: “We are proud that we have been part of Eurovision Grand Final. It was an amazing show at Baku Crystal Hall. The expectations for Romania where higher that the 12 place, but we think that, in the end, this is a good place for Romania. Many good songs are left behind. The voting was a little bit strange, but this is the contest and we respect it. Thank you to all our fans, to the international journalists that offered Romania and Mandinga their great support for First Semi Final and Grand Final. Thank you all for supporting us! We love you and we hope to see you again soon!”

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
