The first semi final of the 57th Eurovision Song Contest saw the juries and the televoters agree on 8 out of the 10 qualifiers with both sides saving one more song each. In the second semi-final which took place on Thursday evening the gap was much greater.

The juries and the televoters (each side weighing 50% of the final vote) agreed only on 6 songs and two more were saved by each side. One more interesting fact is that for the first time since the introduction of the semi finals in 2004 two songs tied at #10. The EBU rule for such cases dictates that the song which has received points from the greater number of countries gets the golden ticket. If it is still a tie then the one that has received the most 12 pointers, 10 pointers etc proceeds.

The countries who qualified from the second semi final were:

• Serbia

• Ukraine

• Sweden

• FYR Macedonia

• Norway

• Estonia

• Malta

• Turkey

Who was saved by the juries and who was the public’s favourite will only be disclosed after the final so as not to influence the result tomorrow.
