Charlene & Natasha, the sisterly duo selected for the 2005 Malta Song for Europe, are bidding to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest with a song in true Swedish style. Love is the reason is the result of a cooperation between Swedish songwriters Jonas “Salle” Sahlin and Johan Bejerholm and Maltese songwriter and OGAE Malta president Deo Grech.
Love is the reason is the only song in the Malta Song for Europe festival which has been co-written by a foreign and a Maltese team. Jonas “Salle” Sahlin and Johan Bejerholm produced the song in a true Swedish style while Deo Grech made sure that it appeals for the Maltese 'ear'. This co-operation led to a song tailor-made for the popular Maltese duo Charlene & Natasha.
Charlene & Natasha will participate in the Maltese Eurovision Song Contest selections for the third consecutive year with a song by OGAE Malta president Deo Grech. “The song is very Swedish in all senses,” explains the team behind Love is the reason to esctoday.com. “It reflects the ABBA-inspired sounds and reminds of the typical Swedish Eurovision Song Contest entries, which all achieved top-placings. 'Love is the reason' also reflects the great momentum that this music style is going through this year with ABBA, who will most probably be nominated as the best act in 50 years history of the Eurovision Song Contest.”
The Maltese sisters Charlene & Natasha are working closely together with Lionheart Records, the record label that is also promoting Sahlene (Estonia 2002 – Runaway) internationally. Love is the reason will eventually be issued as a cd-single and promoted extensively in the Scandinavian countries.
