Macedonian Radio and Television (MKRTV) celebrates its 60th Anniversary today! The national broadcaster of FYR Macedonia saw the light on 28th December, 1944.
Macedonian Radio and Television is a national broadcasting organization covering the whole territory of FYR Macedonia. Macedonian Radio began broadcasting in the Macedonian language, Macedonian Television began broadcasting on 14th December, 1964.
MKRTV, leaded by Director General Gordana Stosic, has launched a reorganisation recently. It is also in the process of moving from state controlled to become a public broadcasting service. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) wrote that on its website.
MKRTV has been active member of EBU since 1993 and participates in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1998. Vlado Janevski reached a 19th place with Ne zori zoro. In 1996, the song Samo ti failed to reach the Eurovision Song Contest, when an internal selection took place to reduce the number of participating countries.
