Bulgarian broadcaster BNT will select the Bulgarian song for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in two rounds. Based on the submitted sound recordings 24 songs will make it to a preliminary contest to be held on 21st January in which they will be tested on stage performance. A jury will select 12 of them to proceed to the national final on 12th February 2005.

Songs for the Bulgarian national final can be submitted until 15th January 2005. The lyrics can be in Bulgarian or in any other language. Between 15th and 18th January 2005 the proposals shall be considered by a professional jury in order to make a preliminary selection and select 24 songs on the basis of the sound recordings submitted. Acknowledged professionals of the musical industry shall be invited to be members of the jury.

Since the rules of the Eurovision Song Contest state that the songs should be performed live on stage, BNT will test the actual skills of the applicants for stage performance. On Friday 21st January, a preliminary contest concert with the participation of the 24 songs qualified will be held, recorded and broadcast.

Within the show on the basis of the live, stage performance of the artists, the jury will qualify 12 songs for the final of the national selection. On the basis of the live performance of all 12 songs qualified, a video clip including a piece of each song will be created. Each performance will be bound with a phone number on which the audience will vote at the final. The clip will be broadcast every day for the period of two weeks before the final show.

The final selection of the song will be made on 12th February 2005 at the Grand Concert, broadcast live on BNT. The audience shall vote by phone or by sms for one of the 12 songs. The selected song will represent Bulgaria in the qualifier round of the Eurovision Song Contest on 19th May 2005 in Kiev.
