One of the most unexpected participants at Melodifestivalen 2005 is Katrina Leskanich, winner of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1997 with the song Love shine a light. Katrina is collaborating with the Swedish band Playboys, which has been renamed 'The New Waves'.

Katrina was present at today�s Melodifestivalen 2005 press conference, accompanied by one of the members of The New Waves. Katrina took some time to greet the esctoday.com visitors and to comment her Melodifestivalen participation.

�It�s a fantastic and a fun opportunity to have the chance to participate once again at the Eurovision Song Contest,� tells Katrina Leskanich to esctoday.com. �I really like Melodifestivalen and I have heard a lot about it and about how fantastic it is. To me, Stockholm is the leading capital of Eurovision!�

Katrina & The New Waves will perform As if tomorrow will never come, a song written by Thomas G:son, during the fourth heat of Melodifestivalen, to be held in Växjö on 5th March 2005.
