Katrina Leskanich, who won the Eurovision Song Contest for the United Kingdom back in 1997 with Love shine a light, will take part in the Swedish selection Melodifestivalen 2005, we learned from our colleagues at Gylleneskor.se.

Katrina said that “it will be fun to take part in the Swedish selection for the Eurovision Song Contest”. She already won for the UK once, and now she wants to make sure singing for Sweden in Kiev 2005. The song she will sing is written by veteran Thomas G:son (who co-wrote the Swedish entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2001). “It is a real rock anthem, which is difficult to get out of your head”, Katrina assured.

Katrina will come to Sweden on 7th December for a press conference, organised by SVT, to announce the participants. The fact that she takes part in the Swedish selection is due to a cooperation with the Swedish band Playboys, that will now be renamed 'The New Waves'. “Sweden is the capital for the Eurovision Song Contest, thanks to ABBA”, the former Eurovision Song Contest winner said.
