The Maltasong Board and UKAM, the organization of Maltese composers, authors and singers have confirmed esctoday.com that 186 entries have been submitted for Malta Song for Europe 2005.

The first judging round will take place next weekend when the 186 songs on disc will be reduced to 50. Those 50 songs will proceed to a next round in which the performers of the songs have to sing their song live in front of a jury behind closed doors. The jury will then select the 22 songs for Malta Song for Europe 2005.

Despite the crisis that preceded the submission deadline in Malta, the Maltasong Board received only 3 songs less than last year. Malta Song for Europe 2005 takes place on 18th and 19th February 2005.
