Spectra+, one of Europes leading lighting companies, has for the fifth time been chosen as the official lighting and technical supplier for the Eurovision Song Contest. Considering there is no official reason to believe the contest has to move to another country, Spactra+ works together with a Ukrainian company.

Spectra+ will work together with Zinteco Ltd, Ukraines leading lighting company, which is situated in Kiev and was established in 1991. Zinteco is the biggest rental company in Ukraine and is well known for its “high quality services and deep knowledge in the entertainment industry technologies”, Specra+ wrote in a press release. They offer a large rental stock of professional equipment and turnkey solutions in all fields of show business in Ukraine. Spactra+ and Zinteco also cooperate for Ruslana's tour, which started last week in Kiev's Sports Palace.

Spectra+ and Zintecos mission include supplying lighting, video and rigging equipment. Also technical coordination and technical crew is included in the package. Spectra+ and Zintecos crewmembers will be working on site for approximately one month to get everything in place.

It is not the first time Spectra+ has supplied such gigantic technical solutions. Swedish television, SVT, chose Spectra+ as the official Lighting Supplier and Technical Co-ordinator for The Eurovision Song Contest 2000 in Stockholm. In 2002 Spectra+ once again was chosen from tough competition with the rest of Europe as the official lighting supplier for this massive event in Tallinn, Estonia. The year after they amazed the world with a magic show in Riga, Latvia, and this year the Eurovision Song Contest train took them to Istanbul.

12,000 so-called DMX channels will be used for this event. Lighting Designer Per Sundin will once again design the lighting together with Co-Designer Pontus Lagerbielke. The lighting will be pre-programmed for three weeks in the Spectra+ studio with WYSIWYG, a software program that allows the lighting designer to create the design virtually and thus save valuable time for the entire project.
