The Cypriot broadcaster CyBC confirmed that Constantinos Christoforou will represent Cyprus at the 50th Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev, Ukraine. Earlier we already wrote that CyBC accepted an offer of record company EMI Greece to start negotiations with the singer.

Christoforou already performed at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1996, finishing 9th with 72 points, but most of you will most likely remember him as the former lead singer of the group One, which represented Cyprus in 2002 with Gimme. One finished 6th with 85 points.

“I am sure that we will do well in Kiev, and I hope for a very good result next year”, Christoforou reacted. Controversial or not, as a popular singer and songwriter in the Greek music scene, we can already fill in where the 12 points from Greece will be going to.

According to information of Eurovision Greece, Constantinos will perform four songs during a televised final, two songs composed by Chirstoforou and two by Mike Connaris, who wrote last year's Cypriot entry Stronger every minute. The selection will be made probably during a tv show like Efharisto Savvatovrado and takes place probably late January or early February. The best song will be selected by a jury and through televoting.
