Norwegian broadcaster TV Norge today announced that it will not broadcast Melodifestivalen 2005, the Swedish national selections. This year's edition of Melodifestivalen was not only broadcast in Sweden by SVT. The semifinals and final were also aired in Norway. Latvia transmitted the final.

According to Eivind Landsverk, program director of TV Norge, the reason why Melodifestivalen 2005 won't be broadcast is the too low interest in Melodifestivalen 2004. The transmissions on TV Norge reached an average of only 100.000 viewers.

At this year's Eurovision Song Contest Norway awarded its 12 points to Lena Philipsson while Latvia gave 8 points to the Swedish song It hurts.
