The Portuguese broadcasting company RTP (Rádio e Televisão de Portugal) has launched a new cable channel called RTP Memória (in English, RTP Memory). From now on, Eurovision fans might watch it with quite interest since the Eurovision Song Contest was not forgotten among the programmes to be transmitted.

This new channel aims to transmit old programmes of RTP which are on file such as entertaining, news, documentaries and, of course, musical ones. The generations gap on the TV issue might now be filled by this new channel which will give the opportunity for the youngest generations to watch old programmes which belong to the memory of the older generations.

Thus, the national finals of Portugal for the Eurovision Song Contest, Festival da Canção, are included in the programmes to be transmitted since they were very popular in the past. The Portuguese viewers can watch it on Saturdays at 6 p.m..

In short, many young Portuguese Eurovision fans can watch and enjoy Eurovision and national contests of the 60s and 70s as many times as they wish since the transmission of these shows will be repeated several times through the set of programmes scheduled for the time season.
