Swiss broadcaster SF DRS dreams of big names to represent Switzerland at next year's Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev. Toni Wachter, responsible for the contest, told newspaper Le Matin that he sees DJ Bobo as the ideal Swiss representative.

'DJ Bobo would be ideal to represent Switzerland at next year's Eurovision Song Contest in Ukraine', says Toni Wachter, responsible for the Eurovision Song Contest at SF DRS. After this year's disaster, 0 point and a last place for Piero Esteriore in Istanbul, the Swiss broadcaster wants to have a more professional approach. 'Why not Eros Ramazotti?'

The new rules for the national selection don't forbid foreigners to represent Switzerland. 'The best example is Canadian singer Céline Dion who won the Eurovision Song Contest representing Switzerland in 1988.' adds Wachter. The rules say that one of the composers or performers of the song should be Swiss or be domiciled in Switzerland. 'Even Patricia Kaas, who lives in Zurich could run for participation.'

But however, Wachter tempered the enthusiasm. 'We haven't contacted artists like DJ Bobo yet.' Until 15th October, everyone who reached the top 50 of the official Swiss charts and can lay before a video clip and CD, can run for participation. The first phase of the selection for 2005 will select the artist who will represent Switzerland in Kiev. The song will then be selected in a second phase.
