On June 12th, the annual Dutch Eurovision-convention will be held in de Meern (near Utrecht) again. A record fair, a raffle, the presentation of the EA-award and lots of performing artists make a visit to the EA-zomermiddag worthwhile.

The convention, organised by the Eurovision Artists foundation, will be held in the Rhenomare-venue in de Meern (see the link on the lefthandside for the address and route) and starts on 14.00 CET. The program is as follows:

14.00 Opening and start record fair
15.45 Performances artists from Nationaal Songfestival part 1
16.15 Presentation EA Award 2003/2004
16.30 Performances artists from Nationaal Songfestival part 2
17.15 Maribelle (picture)

There will be lots of performing artists on June 12th. Six artists who performed at the Nationaal Songfestival in recent years will perform on stage in the Meern. Varna Springer (2004), Arno Kolenbrander (2000 and 2004), Mary Amora (2003 and 2004), Arjen & Margriet (2004), Jeffrey (2003) and Judith Jobse (2004) will sing their Nationaal Songfestival-song, as well as some other songs from their repertoire. The convention is will be closed by a performance of Maribelle, who represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 1984 with the song Ik hou van jou.

In between the performances a raffle will be held in which nice Eurovision-prizes can be won. Next to that, the 12th EA-award will be presented. In order to stimulate the media to bring the Eurovision Songcontest to the attention of the public, Eurovision Artists awards a prize to the person who did this the best in the past year. Previous winners of this EA-award are Paul de Leeuw (1993), Johan Verstreken (1994), Hijlco Span (1995), André Vermeulen (1996), Hijlco Span and Willem van Beusekom (1997), the team that compiled the cd with all Dutch Eurovision-entries (1998), Tim Dekkers (1999), Ron Stoeltie (2000), Ankelien Barkman (2001), Bert van Breda (2003) and Schiffers.FM (2003).

The nominees for this years award are:
– Television production company IdtV, who produced the program series Op weg naar het Songfestival and the Nationaal Songfestival 2004.
– The writersduo Frédérique Spigt and Jn van der Mey, who wrote the song In het licht van jouw ogen for the Nationaal Songfestival 2004.
– the website esctoday.com, a Dutch initiative that has become the biggest Eurovision-information source available.

The entrance fee for the EA-zomermiddag amounts to €10 for members and €12,50 for non-members.
