Estonian Television (ETV) announced yesterday that popartist Maarja-Liis Ilus (Estonia 1996, 1997) will announce the Estonian points in the live broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest 2004.
According to the international coordinator of ETV, Juhan Paadam, each year a person is chosen, who has had some connections to Eurovision in the past. Last year the Estonian announcer was Ines (Estonia 2000).
Vaiko Eplik (Estonia 2003) was an option as well, but he had other obligations on May 15th.
Maarja tried to make a comeback to the Eurovision scene with the song Homme (Tomorrow) in the Estonian preselection this year, but ended up 4th in the telephone voting. The backup jury in the studio thought Maarja was the best candidate for the performance in Istanbul.
