ABBA-Agnetha Fältskog is releasing a new album in March, and has received invitations to music events all over the world. But she might turn them all down — she is too scared of flying.
When in late 2003 ABBA-Agnetha Fältskog announced that she would be releasing a new solo album, the international music industry was head over heels.
Up to today she has received at least 150 invitations to various music events around the globe, including the American Grammy Awards gala and its Austrian correspondent Amadeus. But each invitation may well end up in the waste bin.
“Agnetha can decide for herself which invitations she wants to accept. An unforeseen obstacle is that her fear of flying is bigger than ever”, says Helen Wigren at Agnetha Fältskog's record company Warner Music.
So what was going to be a grand slam comeback for the now 53-year-old former ABBA vocalist after seventeen years on a musical back seat might just turn into a hardly noticed event.
Agnetha Fältskog and the other three ABBA members created Eurovision history in 1974 when their song Waterloo scored the first landslide victory ever in the contest. International stardom followed, but despite the countless ABBA tours Agnetha Fältskog never overcame her phobia. The same phobia which now threatens her comeback.
