Laos is set to make its highly anticipated debut at the Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026, and the nation has internally selected the talented artist Thinla to carry its flag. Thinla, formerly known as Thinlamphone, is a prominent Lao artist celebrated for her unique fusion of traditional Morlum music with contemporary genres such as pop, R&B, and dance. Her career highlights include a successful U.S. tour, a performance representing Laos at the Round Festival in Busan, South Korea, and appearances at official ASEAN events, showcasing her commitment to promoting Lao heritage through music.
The song selection process will take place through a national final titled Sieng Lao: The One. This two-day event, broadcast by Vientiane Capital Television (VTE9), is scheduled for September 23 and 24, 2026. The results, including the public’s choice, will be announced on the second night. Previews of the competing songs are expected to be released in the coming days, building anticipation among fans.
The inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia is set to be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at the IdeaLive arena in Bangkok, Thailand. Organised by Voxovation under licence from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the contest will feature eleven participating countries from the Asia-Pacific region, with results determined by a 50/50 split of professional jury and public voting.
