RUV, the Icelandic national broadcaster, has set the date for he Songvakepnnin 2026 song sumbission deadline eventhough Iceland’s participation at Eurovision 2026 remains uncertain.

RUV has set the deadline for Songvakennin 2026  song submission window on Thursday 20th November 2026. RUV is yet to make a final decision regarding its participation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. RUV has announced that more songs have been submitted for the Icelandic national selection despite the uncertainty.

Iceland is one of the countries along with Spain, Ireland, Slovenia and the Netherlands who have threatened to pull out of the competition if Israel is not excluded from participating at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna.

An extraordinary meeting was scheduled to be held earlier this month amongst the EBU members in order to determine Israel’s participation at the ESC 2026, but this meeting has been cancelled and the matter will be discussed at the forthcoming EBU’s General Winter Assembly in Geneva on the 4th and 5th of December 2025.

The deadline for countries to confirm their participation at Eurovision 2026 has been set for mid- December.
