Andorra will not return to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2026, as confirmed by the national broadcaster RTVA. Despite recent discussions involving Catalan broadcaster TV3, RTVA has stated it has no intention to participate or collaborate for a future return.
The announcement was confirmed to the fan site Eurofestivales, with a spokesperson for Ràdio i Televisió d’Andorra (RTVA) stating that:
“RTVA has no plans to participate in the 2026 festival, nor to collaborate with TV3 for that purpose.”
In recent months, speculation had grown after reports surfaced of a meeting between representatives of TV3, the Catalan public broadcaster, and officials in Andorra. TV3 had reportedly presented a proposal that could have seen Andorra make a return to the Eurovision stage through a joint effort. However, the discussions appear to have come to nothing.
RTVA reiterated that its current editorial policy does not include participation in artistic competitions of any kind, effectively ruling out any return to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU)’s flagship event.
A short but memorable Eurovision history
Andorra made its debut at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and participated consecutively until 2009. Over its six appearances, the Principality never managed to qualify for the Grand Final.
The country’s best result came in 2007, when Anonymous represented Andorra with Salvem el món. The band finished 12th in the semi-final, missing out on qualification by just 11 points.
Andorra withdrew from the contest in 2010, citing financial constraints. Since then, the country has remained absent from the competition, despite occasional rumours and campaigns from fans hoping to see their return.
