The week is passing by rapidly in the Italian Riviera. The 75th Sanremo Festival has just turned the page of its second night and is now approaching halftime. Fifteen of this year’s contestants went on stage for a second performance and received the votes of the public and the radio jury. We have another top 5! Is a winner emerging from the impressive panel of 29 entries?

Another night, another show. Carlo Conti accompanied again millions and millions of viewers across the Belpaese and beyond through the second night of the 75th Sanremo Festival live from Teatro Ariston. Co-hosts were Cristiano MalgioglioBianca Balti and Nino Frassica.

The night was lauched by the four contestants in the Newcomers’ section, with Alex Wyse and Settembre qualifying for the final duel on Thursday. Then, one of the highlights of the night: former Sanremo and Eurovision winner Damiano David (Maneskin, Italy 2021) graced the stage with a cover of Felicità, of late Lucio Dalla. Damiano later came back to present his very own Born with a broken heart. But the night will also be remembered because of a second male member of the audience loudly catcalling Elodie as she was about to start her Dimenticarsi alle 7, after a first episode directed at Rose Villain on Tuesday already made headlines in Italy.

Italy in Eurovision

Italy is one of the founder members of the Eurovision Song Contest having debuted in the very first contest in 1956. The country has won the event thrice with Gigliola Cinquetti (1964), Toto Cutugno (1990) and Maneskin (2021).

Italy withdrew from the competition in 1998 and returned to Eurovision in 2011 after a 13 year hiatus. Since their return to the contest the Italians have enjoyed great success in the event placing 9 times in the top 10 of the scoreboard including a victory in 2021.

Last year Angelina Mango represented Italy at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden with her entry La noia, placing 7th with 268 points.
