We are heading to the Balkans tonight, nanely to Slovenia for a special EMA 2025 show where we will get to see a snippet of the twelve competing songs.

About the show

The show Ema pred Ema will be showcasing all the competing acts at EMA 2025 who will premiere their EMA 2025 competing songs in short excerpts to the audience at the Retro Kitsch Disco. Former Slovenian Eurovision acts who have partaken in the Slovenian national selection will be also gracing the show tonight:

About EMA 2025

The Slovenian national final aka EMA 2025 will be held on Saturday 1 February with a total of 12 acts battling for the golden ticket to Basel. EMA 2025 will be hosted by Raiven (Slovenia 2024) and Štras.

EMA 2025 will consist of two rounds:

  • Round #1– A total of five juries will evaluate the competing songs and cast their votes. The top two songs will proceed to the next round aka the Superfinal.
  • Round #2– The top two songs after the 5 jury deliberation will battle against each another at the Superfinal and the Slovenian public will have the responsibility of selecting the 2025 Slovenian Eurovision and entry. The winning entry and act after the public televoting deliberation at the ‘Superfinal’ will represent Slovenia at ESC 2025.

Slovenia in Eurovision

Slovenia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993 with 1X Band and is yet to win the competition. The country’s best result in the contest is a 7th placing, achieved  in 1995 (Darja Svajger) and 2001 (Nusa Derenda).

Slovenia has competed 29 times in the contest since their debut in 1993, the country has partaken in the competition religiously every year with the exception of 1994 and 2000 when the nation was forced to stay out of the event due to the relegation rules of the contest back then.

In 2024 Raiven represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo with her entry ‘Veronika‘.
