Netherlands: Claude to Basel!

AVROTROS, the Dutch national broadcaster, has unveiled the name of the Dutch Eurovision 2025 act.

Claude will have the honour of representing the Netherlands at the forthcoming 2025 Eurovision Song Contest in Basel next May.

The Netherlands is the fourth country to unveil its Eurovision act and entry following Cyprus, Montenegro and Czehia.

The Dutch Eurovision 2025 Eurovision Committee (Cornald Maas, Jacqueline Govaert, Sander Lantinga, Hila Noorzai, Carolien Borgers and Jaap Reesema) has selected Claude to represent the Netherlands at ESC 2025.

The Dutch ESC 2025 Selection Committee say:

This year, as a selection committee, we have opted for a meaningful, connecting and hit-sensitive song with international appeal that can effortlessly win the hearts of young and old Eurovision viewers.

Claude is proud and honoured to fly the Dutch colours at Eurovision 2025:

I feel incredibly honored to be representing the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest next year and I still can’t believe it. I’m really looking forward to it and can’t wait to let Europe hear the song.

About Claude

The charismatic singer-songwriter Claude, originally from Congo, moved to the Netherlands at the age of 13. Here he first became acquainted with the Eurovision Song Contest on television and together with his family he saw Conchita Wurst win that year. A tradition was born and ever since then Claude has continued to follow the Song Contest.

His love for music developed further and with his unique voice and talent, Claude managed to conquer the music landscape. His breakthrough came in 2022 with the debut single ‘Ladada (Mon Dernier Mot)’, which achieved 57 million streams.

Claude will represent the Netherlands at the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2025 in Switzerland. The 21-year-old singer, known for hits such as Ladada (Mon Dernier Mot), Layla and Écoutez-moi, is proud to represent the Netherlands on stage in the host city of Basel.

Claude was chosen after a careful and phased process from the 331 entries that AVROTROS received. 

Claude released his debut album this year, on which he co-wrote all the songs, and toured the Netherlands and Belgium with his band. In 2024, Claude also took on the role of Ambassador of Freedom, an honorable task that he found extra special because of his own past.

Claude continues to impress internationally. The English-French version of ‘Ladada’ charted in over fifteen countries, including Italy, where the single reached the top 10.

With the international release of ‘Layla’, Claude strengthened his position as an artist with global allure. Claude is eagerly looking forward to 2025, when, in addition to the Eurovision Song Contest, he will also shine at the legendary Pinkpop Festival. Although his journey has only just begun, Claude’s boundless energy, sold-out shows and millions of streams prove that he is a lasting force in the music world.

The Netherlands in Eurovision

The Netherlands is one of the founder members of the Eurovision Song Contest and has won the competition 5 times: 1957, 1959, 1969, 1975 and 2019.

In 2024 Joost Klein represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo with his entry ‘Europapa‘.
