Greece: ERT confirms preliminary participation in Eurovision 2020

ERT, the Greek national broadcaster, has confirmed to ESCToday Greece’s preliminary participation at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, an official confirmation regarding the country’s ESC participation in The Netherlands is expected in due course.

Thus Greece joins the list of countries of who have so far confirmed their intention to participate at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in The Netherlands.

ERT is yet to determine the mechanism it will use in order to select the 2020 Greek Eurovision hopeful and entry.

Greece in Eurovision

Greece debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 and has won the competition once in 2005 with Helena Paparizou‘s My number one.

The Mediterranean country has partaken 40 times in the contest so far.

Greece enjoyed its golden era at the Eurovision Song Contest from 2004-2013, achieving 9 top 10 placings in the Grand Final, including its 2005 victory.

In 2019 the Greeks selected Katerine Duska via an internal selection in order to represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest with her entry Better Love.  Greece placed 21st  in the Grand Final in Tel Aviv.
