Winning the trophy at Eurovision 2019 is taking Duncan Laurence across Europe, his latest destination being Poland where the young singer-songwriter visited the popular morning show Dzień Dobry TVN.

Eurovision 2019 winner Duncan Laurence is currently performing throughout Europe in the wake of his victory in Tel Aviv two weeks ago. On Sunday morning, 2 June he was a guest in the popular Polish TV-show Dzień Dobry TVN (“Good Morning TVN”) on channel TVN. Hosts Magda Mołek and Marcin Meller talked to Duncan about his youth, musical influences, winning Eurovision and of course his future plans.

Home and abroad

About his arrival on home soil after winning the Eurovision Song Contest, Duncan Laurence reminisces:

In the Netherlands, after my win, there was real madness. When we came to the Netherlands, to the airport, the day after the final, the whole airport was packed with people who greeted me and cheered!

The artist was genuinely touched by the enthusiastic homecoming. He took a little time to rest, but then continued with his work. It’s a wonderfully busy period for Duncan:

I travel around Europe. I meet wonderful people, I play concerts, I’m appearing in various programmes.

“Only me and the song”

Of course, the hosts talked to Duncan about his winning song Arcade, which was described as “a pop ballad with an unusually expressive and strong chorus”. How does Duncan Laurence explain the power of his entry?:

This year in Eurovision there were a lot of performers that gave a great show. I like it, the choreography, the show, on condition that everything is consistent with the song. In my case it was different. Just me and the song. I wanted to tell a specific story.

Duncan Laurence also gave a endearing live acoustic performance of Arcade, accompanied by a pianist.
