Flemish broadcaster VRT, responsible for the Belgian entry at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year, seems to believe in his Eurosong For Kids and schedules it in prime time on Sunday evening, 4 weeks long. At the same time, the first single of its participants, Wereld vol muziek (World full of music), hits shops in Flanders.
Since June, VRTs kids channel KETNET follows the young participants on their way from the audition to the semi finals. As from Sunday 31st August, Eurosong For Kids moves to TV1, the first channel of VRT. The first show will introduce the Flemings to the concept of Eurosong For Kids and its 10 participants. The semi finals, with 5 competitors each time, take place on 7th and 14th September. The winners of both semi finals and the three best scoring songs that didnt win go on to the final.
During the final on 21st September, a professional jury, a kids jury, 2 radio juries and the viewers will point out the Belgian representative for the first Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen.
Meanwhile, the participants of Eurosong For Kids have released their first single Wereld vol muziek (World full of music). The kids recorded the song all together and star in their own video clip. The song was written by Kris Wauters, member of the group Clouseau that represented Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rome, 1991. The single Wereld vol muziek is just a first Eurosong For Kids release. On 15th September, the day after the second semi final, an album with the 10 participating songs will be released. And besides, the winning song for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen will be released on single by EMI Belgium.
